Our Round Top, TX Adventure
Round Top!!! The place where I go to find my unique finds and curated pieces, but also one of my favorite places for beautiful scenery, friendly faces, amazing food and some of the yummiest drinks you'll ever sip. This trip was super last minute, and I hesitated to even go, BUT, I knew that not only could I find some very unique pieces, but I could also go and experience a refreshing creative element that keeps me going and innovative with my designs. I did just that!
Where to Stay
Since this was such a last minute trip, I was lucky enough to find a room at the Coyote Station. This was my second time staying here, and it’s great because it’s right in town (which is rare to find), and parking is easy. I also love the Wander Inn (Junk Gypsies all the way!), and if I’m lucky, the Rancho Pillow. I would plan to book your stay a few months in advance, because places book up quickly.
Where We Ate
There are so many great places to eat and drink… you won’t be able to hit all of them, but I wanted to share some from this trip! The Garden Co. (formerly Feed + Firewater) is a top fave of mine for a really yummy meal with all the drinks to compliment. A reservation is a must here though! I also enjoy Lulu’s, a piece of pie from Royer’s Pie of course, and a cocktail from the Ellis Motel (the Hibiscus Refresher is amazing!).
When To Go and What To Bring
They have these shows twice a year, Spring and Fall, and if you plan to go you need to bring your U-Haul (or truck), comfy (but of course cute!) shoes, lots of cash (for better deals), and a big appetite. I tend to go towards the end of the show for better deals, and let’s be honest, I’m always last minute.
What To Expect
From Willie Nelson paintings on old tarps, to Spanish sifters, to Moroccan green glass jugs...my travels to Round Top took me all over the world, without having to leave my great state of Texas. There are some rotating vendors at the show, but a lot of our favorites come back show after show. I love stopping at Blue Hills at Round Top for lots of great vendors (it’s about 2 miles before you get to the actual town of Round Top). I also love going to Marburger Farms, and the Compound. There’s also a great strip of shops about 2 miles past Marburger that requires a little bit of digging, but that’s honestly my favorite kind.
My Favorite Finds
I found tons of great things! My top finds would be my vintage gold metal swans, my Willie Nelson painting, massive petrified wood pieces (to be used for custom botanicals), tons of Moroccan wood bowls, some art printed on old theater paper and all sorts of unique pieces for shelf styling and coffee table accessorizing.
Keep an eye out for how I use these pieces in my current projects, and maybe even in my own home. I'm already planning my next trip in the Fall. Happy Travels!!!
