Have you seen a more warm and inviting home? We built this space from the ground up alongside the client and I couldn’t be happier with the result. For this project, the client had a specific vision in mind, so my goal was to work as a team to implement the ideas she had in mind to create the dream home she was envisioning. We worked with a builder, Tim Seymour, and he was extremely hands-on, and just an overall amazing person to work with!
The overall design for this space was “warm, inviting, and layered”. To achieve this feeling, the color palette, wood tones, and metal choices were extremely important. When discussing color we decided to implement a warm color palette with soft greens, muted persimmon, creams, whites, and soft wood tones. Since they love to host I knew this color theme would need to be warm and inviting, just like the client.
Let’s talk about that gorgeous exterior now! The client wanted to incorporate different types of finish-out throughout the house. Elements like painted brick, stone, and a vertical tile wall that looked like wood for durability purposes.
Windows, windows, and more windows were also a MUST by the client. The backyard is gorgeous so we added giant sliding doors in the back to give them a beautiful view. A unique piece we also incorporated to keep the “nature feeling” was a “clerestory” window above the living room. “Clerestories” were very popular in old churches and we thought it was just the perfect touch for that “open feeling”.
I love when a client is open to patterns and in this case, she was! We decided to have a little fun in certain areas like the Guest Bathroom. The client actually picked the wallpaper herself for this space and we designed the rest of the Bathroom around the wallpaper. We love how this space turned out!
When it comes to a New Build hiring a Designer can be extremely helpful when it comes down to the small details. I really love this aspect of design because I get the chance to work closely with a client to not only design their home but also educate them on the details that go into New Build. This might be one of the most “warm and inviting” projects I’ve completed to date!
